Progam Note:  In August of 2012, I traveled to Kampala, Uganda to teach music and provide aid through the humanitarian organization, Heart Cry International. My trip was funded by nearly 40 donors through a crowd-funding project Uganda: A Message Heard Through Music. Since crowd-funding projects are incentive based for it's donors, I decided to fulfill my project by writing this piece in response to my time in Kampala.

An African Footprint is a combination of folk material I transcribed while in Uganda and the hymn Be Thou My Vision, as it was one we sang with the street children and orphans. I would like to personally thank all those who funded this work and I hope it will be a voice for the wonderful kids of Kampala.
